Gender Equality

Advocating for women’s rights, combating gender-based violence, and promoting leadership opportunities for women and girls.

FJSD is deeply committed to promoting gender equality and addressing the systemic barriers that limit the rights and opportunities of women and girls. Gender inequality remains a significant challenge in Nigeria, with women and girls disproportionately affected by poverty, violence, and discrimination. Our gender equality initiatives aim to create a society where women and girls can thrive, lead, and participate fully in all aspects of life.

WHAT WE DO
  • Advocating for Women’s Rights: We engage in advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about gender equality and influence policies that protect women’s rights.
  • Addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV): We provide safe spaces, counseling, and legal support for survivors of GBV while advocating for stricter enforcement of laws against violence.
  • Leadership Development: Through training and mentorship programs, we equip women and girls with the skills and confidence to take on leadership roles in their communities and beyond.
  • Community Engagement: We work with men, boys, and traditional leaders to challenge harmful gender norms and promote positive attitudes toward gender equality.
Our Impact
  • Supported over 5,000 survivors of gender-based violence with counseling and legal aid.
  • Trained 2,000 women and girls in leadership and advocacy skills.
  • Contributed to community-wide shifts in attitudes toward gender equality.
